Hi,

Recently, someone asked how to fill a PDF form and then print it using PDF reDirect. For example, the US passport renewal form (which can be downloaded from http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/79960.pdf). The problem is that the user was getting the Error Code 100, and the PDF was not created.

Well, The PDF he is trying to print is encrypted. The permissions allow to print, but, the folks at Adobe are so smart that they recognize that the user is trying to print a filled form through a convertor. For example, if I change the conversion engine from the default GNU Ghostscript to use Adobe's Distiller, the conversion fails as well, except that I get the following error log:

%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
This PostScript file was created from an encrypted PDF file.
Redistilling encrypted PDF is not permitted.
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

However, there is a solution. You can use the highly rated PDF Reader developed by FoxIt Software. With that software, you will be able to fill the form and to print it to PDF reDirect without any problems. This Reader is freeware and you can get a copy at www.foxitsoftware.com.

I hope that helps others in the same situation.
