I received the following bug report today:

"I have found a small bug.  I chuck out a lot of Excel files and if you leave the Page Set-up on fit to x pages by y pages then PDFredirect does not launch when you print.  If you select adjust to aa% of normal size then all works perfectly."

I have confirmed that:

  • This is a problem with PDF reDirect only on Win9x/ME machines
  • The problem does NOT occur with Win NT, 2000 & XP
  • The problem does NOT occur with PDF reDirect Pro on any version of Windows

Unfortunately, after a great deal of investigation, a fix seems unlikely. There is however a work-around as follows:

  • Step 1. Select "Page Setup"

  • Step 2. Select "Fit  X pages wide by Y tall" as intended, and set the values needed.

  • Step 3. Select "Print Preview", then click "Page Setup" to return to the dialog box.

  • Step 4. Select "Adjust to ZZ % (Note: Excel has selected the proper zoom ratio automatically to match the requested setting from Step 2 above)

  • Step 5. Select "Print". The PDF will be created as requested.
