Hi,

The last beta (v2.2.922) was released today, 23 May 2010, and is available [here]. Please take a look and let me know of any new bugs you find.

A big "thank you" to all of the inputs I received for v2.2.921. You really helped.

The official release is expected to occur on 31 May 2010.

   Best regards,

Michel

I’ve tried beta v2.2.921 and now beta v2.2.922 and the suggestion for defining the location for finding files for attachments doesn’t seem to be happening.  It used to open in C:\, proposed to open somewhere elsewhere e.g. documents, but still doesn’t go anywhere else other than C:\.
Am I missing something?
See: http://www.exp-systems.com/forum_exp/forum_posts.asp?TID=575

Also, in beta 2.2.922, when adding Attachments, if one clicks on “Cancel” in the Attach Files dialogue box, you get the Unexpected window as reported in 2.2.921 at

Sorry, my bad. I had a major crash about 2 months ago, and I lost 2 days of programming, so I went by memory to re-do the bug fixes I had done, and I missed the attachment bugs.

The second I saw your post, I went "Doh!"

Anyway, I fixed them today, and I will try to post v2.2.923 tomorrow (easy fix) as well as two other bug fixes I received today.

Thanks for the reminder!

No worries.
Also apols about the terrible puncuation/typing/spelling: shouldn't do stuff late at night!
Thanks for adding the fixes back in.

In addition (and as an after-thought/on reflection):
when I installed beta 2.2.922 (on top of 2.2.921), I got an installation error:

==============

Sorry. An error occured while Installing new PDF reDirect Port Monitor......FAILED. (3006)
   - Error Number = 0:
   - DLL Error Number = 3006: The specified print monitor has already been installed.

This error may occur if the Windows Print Spooler is currently "BUSY".

You can try the following:
   1. Reboot your computer and then try installing again, or
   2. Restart the Print Spooler Service and then try installing again.

If the error persists, etc etc etc

==============

I didn't worry too much, clicked on Yes, did a reboot and it installed fine at the second attempt.
However, as soon as I clicked on Yes, I think there was a message about doing a clean up (went by too quickly to really notice, and not in the log files). But it seemed to have deleted the whole of the pre-existing 2.2.921 installation directory i.e. it didn't leave it in place/reinstate it, as it probably should have done since it couldn't put 2.2.922 in?
Happily, I have a backup, so could pull back a couple of files that I wanted.
When I got 2.2.922 on at the second attempt, all the settings & history etc were there, so they hadn't been lost.
It just seems a bit unusual that if an installation on top of an existing version fails, one would hope that the existing installation is left intact, and not deleted.
Just my thoughts, maybe that's the way it's supposed to happen, but just in case there's something not quite right, am posting this.

The text of the error log file is below; I have a copy of the error window (JPG), but the text is much the same.

Hi,

It is very difficult to return to the old installation configuration once the printer has been removed. I would get the same 3006 error trying to re-install the old printer. This is the problem of installing a printer driver: I am at the mercy of the Windows Print Spooler service, and whether it is working properly. There is a way to work around by "manipulating" the registry directly, but I have decided not to take that approach, and to rely on the Windows API commands.

If it was just a few files, it would be easy to return to the old version just as you suggested.

   Cheers!

The two items noted above
1. crash on attachment/add/cancel
2. defaulting to documents folder for adding attachments (& remembering lat used folder)
both work in beta 923
Thanks!
