I book quite a few train tickets online from EC's website http://www.eastcoast.co.uk/ .

There appears to be a slight anomaly between Firefox and IE when printing EC’s online booking confirmation.

I’ve shifted to using Firefox (currently v15) from IE (was v8).  When booking tickets online on EC’s website, I tend to save the Confirmation screen as a PDF. Firefox seems to print in such a way as the bulk of the text on the confirmation in the resulting PDF appears as a graphic (so you can’t select words etc in the PDF, for example).  Using IE, the resulting PDF has all the text as text (so selectable).  You’d never notice this if printing the confirmation to a printer, it only shows up in the PDF.  I have no idea if it’s a function of pdf Redirect, or a function of the way the different browsers respond to the print request.

Just posting here out of curiosity really.  It's not a big problem for me, and it’s so idiosyncratic, and with another browser update, it might vanish anyway.

The anomaly doesn’t seem to arise between the two browsers when printing other pages.  I can supply a couple of examples if interested.

Hi,

Good observation! It is the browsers. Each one will send different print commands to PDF reDirect - with resulting different PDF files. I have found that some sites print better using IE, for others Firefox is better, and Google Chrome for others.

Typically, I am a Firefox user, so I tend to try other browsers when the PDF does not meet my expectations.

   I hope this helps,

   Cheers!

Thanks Michel.

FWIW, I posted the same/similar comment on another group, and got a response with the following URLs, which slightly puts the responsibility at Firefox's door
