1) In MS Word, create hyperlink to website, but showing a text different to the web address. For example, create hyperlink to http://www.exp-systems.com/ but showing only the text 'exp-systems.com'
2) Create the pdf file using PDF reDirect
3) Open the pdf file with the pdf viewer
4) Click on the hyperlink
Problem: The pdf will pass the text and not the whole address as link and, therefore, the pdf viewer won't know what application to call to handle the link.
For example, it will try to open exp-systems.com instead of http://www.exp-systems.com/ and, therefore, the brower won't open.

I have tested similar software and all of them have the same problem:
PDFCreator
PrimoPDF
pdf995
cutepdf
Although it's not perfect, so far PDF reDirect is the one that fits my needs better. I haven't tested doPDF yet.
My alternative solution for the hyperlink problem is to open the doc file in OpenOffice and create the pdf from there.

Hi,
I just remembered that there is another option. There is a (free) tool that will transfer Word hyperlinks and TOC to the PDF file. It's located [ http://www.transcom.de/transcom/en/2004_pdf-t-maker.htm - here ].

Hello
I have a similar problem and found something out.
- Word 2007 SP2 with all updates
- PDF reDirect v2.2.8 and v2.2.918, PDF Creator 0.9.8 and Save es PDF/XPS
- Ghostscript 8.64 and 8.70 (32-bit)
- Mailto and www Hyperlink are centered in one line
xyz@test.de www.xyztest.de
If I use Arial with a size < 12 the mailto doesn't work and the www hyperlink are cutted like "http://www.x"
So the size of the font with centered hyperlinks seams to very important.
With "save as PDF" a size of 8,9,10,11 and 12 are working.
So it could be a GhostScript problem or a Word 2007 printing bug.

After some tests I found out something new:
Adobe Reader v9.2 is a part of the problem.
I have compared it with Foxit Reader v3.1.3.1030
If the mailto and hyperlinks are in the text and not in the header or footer of a word (Word 97-2003) document, it works with "save as PDF" with all font sizes and Adobe Reader and Foxit Reader.
If the mailto and hyperlinks are in the header or footer, the Adobe Reader has problems (mailto doesn't work and URL is cutted).
With Foxit Reader the subject of the mailto url is ignored but the mail address is working. The website link works well.
With PDF reDirect or PDF Creator both hyperlinks are working (text and header/footer) with Foxit Reader (without the subject of the mailto url).
With Adobe Reader the mail is not working and the web url cutted in text and header/footer.
So it seams to be a combination of more than one error / program.
I hope this help to find it out and all involved programs get updates to correct it.
I will try to conntect Adobe and Foxit too.

Thanks for the extra data. Hopefully it will help to find what can be done to improve the creation of hyperlinks.
In particular, Adobe's Reader now tries to create links automatically, although there are some that it still ignores.

have been using ReDirect Pro from VBA for about 18 months with no
problem. My motherboard and hard drive had to be replaced so my machine
was rebuilt. I reinstalled reDirect Pro (this time with 2.2.8 rather
than 2.2.5), registered and set up a Batch printer for VBA. On
"Printers and faxes" the printer "BatchPDF–VBA" is present as well as
"PDF reDirect Pro v2" - both "Ready."
