I have installed Acrobat Reader and Acrobat Prof. For printing pdf files I use PDF reDirect freeware because it is easier and faster than Acrobat Prof. In Win Explorer>Folder Options I have registered Acrobat Reader for opening the pdf files. When I double click on a pdf file in Win Explorer it is opened in Acrobat Reader as it is supposed to. But when I create a pdf file with PDF reDirect and want to view it before I save it, it is opened in Acrobat Prof. and not in Acrobat Reader. How can I change that?
It is not a big issue but annoying anyway. Thanks for help.

Hi,

I think that there is an "advanced" setting that is the problem. I had the same problem here too, and I fixed the problem as follows:
  • Open Windows Explorer
  • Select a folder (any folder will do)
  • Choose the "Tools" then "Folder Options.." menu
  • Click the "File Types" tab
  • Select the "PDF" file type from the list
  • Make sure that it says "Opens with Adobe Reader 8.0" (or whatever)
  • Now, click the "Advanced" button (not the "Change" button)
  • Select the "open" action and delete it
  • Close everything.
This is a real pain. I am not sure why there is two ways that you can specify how to open PDF files, but it seems like they conflict with one another. Oh well... Hopefully this will work for you like it did for me.
