I received the following question by e-mail today:

The documentation says: "Additionally, you can "Lock" the PDF File to prevent the reader from Saving, Printing, Accessing embedded files, or "copy and paste" text."

Each time I use it, it only prevents Printing but not Saving. I have followed the instructions to lock the PDF. Is there a reason for this?

Unfortunately, this user's observation is correct. Apparently, Adobe changed the specification for locking PDF files between version 4 and version 5 of the Acrobat Reader. Therefore, the statement in the documentation only applies if the person reading the PDF file is using Acrobat Reader v4. For the more recent versions of the Reader (v5 to v7), the Reader allows the user to save a copy. All the other features of the locking mechanism do work properly however.

I will fix the documentation at the next release of PDF reDirect Professional.
